Hi, I’m Christina—and I’m so glad you’re here. I created Finding Joy Psychological Services because of my own journey to rediscover joy in life.

It hasn’t always been easy. Like many of us, I’ve had my share of challenges and traumas, some beginning in childhood. Back then, I didn’t understand why I felt so anxious, couldn’t sleep, or lived with such fear. My parents, doing their best while carrying their own struggles, didn’t know much about mental health—and that made reaching out for help even harder.

My Journey to Finding Joy

As a teenager, I became curious about how the mind and body work. I started reading about the brain, which eventually led me to study psychology.

Decades later through my own therapy, deep self-reflection, and life’s ups and downs I’ve come to understand why my body reacted as it did, and sometimes still does.

I’ve learned to work through my life experiences and to cultivate a deep sense of trust, understanding, and love for myself.

I used to believe, “bad things always happen to me.” Now, I’ve learned to challenge that thought and trust in life more fully. This shift has opened me up to the joy that life can bring.

A Simple Joy Practice to Begin

One starting point I often return to is finding time in the day to be still.

It sounds almost too simple, but our nervous systems are constantly scanning for threat. Add a busy mind, and it’s easy to feel anxious or overwhelmed.

Here’s what helps me:

Pause. Step away from what you’re doing, even for a moment.

Connect. Notice what you see, hear, and feel in your surroundings.

Breathe. Take three slow, deep breaths. Set a light intention to breathe slower and fuller.

Even these little pauses can create space for calm and for joy to enter.
